What if a pigeon got inside my house, bedroom, kitchen, etc.?

Sometimes when you open a front door to take groceries inside the house, a pigeon may come from nowhere and enter into the house. It can start to fly around the kitchen, living room and bedroom. The pigeons are fast and they are able to fly around without being caught. They may find many ways to enter into the home, not only when you open your door. They can find a crack in the wall or an open window, and they could enter using a pet door as well. However, when you have a pigeon in the home, what matters more is not about how it got inside but how you should get it out.

You have to make sure that you get it out as quickly as possible. This may be a daunting task since it is not easy to trap a pigeon as you would trap another animal. The pigeons are going to try to avoid you as much as they can. When you get closer to it, it may become even more afraid; so don’t try to approach it. You need to use a good strategy in order to effectively capture it and get it out of the house.

First you should close all doors and windows and leave only one opening that the bird can use to get out. You should also keep from waving hands or babbling, which may make the animal scared and continue to fly around the entire place. This is because the birds are empathetic and sensitive creatures. When the bird stops moving frantically around, you may throw a towel over it to catch it. When the bird is under the towel, it will not be able to fly around. You can then remove the bird gently, place it in a box and then use a towel to cover the box. Afterwards, you can take the pigeon out and let it fly outside to go where it came from.

When you want to capture the pigeon, you have to ensure that it is in a room where there is no way to get out. To make sure that you are protected, it is good to wear a certain type of clothing like goggles, a mask and hat. This protects you from the bird attacking and the parasites or diseases that the pigeon may carry around. Sometimes you can use a dog or a cat to scare the pigeon out, but make sure that it does not kill it and eat it because of the diseases or parasites it may carry.
